The One Day/Week "Flexible Option" Program
Our goal is to create an experience that meets the needs of our diverse constituents. With our "flexible options" program, families can choose to either attend Temple Emanuel Religious School one day per week or two days per week. We encourage you to use our flexible model to find a time schedule that fits your family.
Sunday mornings, all students: All students (k-7) are required to attend Religious School from 9 AM - 11:30 AM on Sundays. This is the time when the whole student community experiences the Judaic Studies curriculum, learning the foundational lessons of Jewish holidays, life cycle, rituals, history, prayer and culture.
One Day/Week Option for 3rd - 7th grade students: Students who are in third grade or higher begin the additional study of the Hebrew language for the purpose of participation in Jewish ritual settings (like prayer and holiday observance). Students who wish to complete their formal Jewish learning on Sundays can stay at Religious School from 11:30-12:45 PM. The first 15 minutes of this time is a lunch break. The following hour is Hebrew learning.

Two Day/Week Option for 3rd - 7th grades students: This option is best for families who have children in 3rd grade or higher who do not desire a one day/week program or are looking for a more individualized Hebrew experience. These students attend from 9:00-11:30 AM on Sundays (Judaic Studies Curriculum), and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:15 PM for their Hebrew learning. (This Hebrew program also includes a pizza snack.)
Hebrew Tutoring Option for 3rd - 7th grade students: Our Religious School also offers an excellent Hebrew tutoring program. For parents who want their students to have a more individualized Hebrew learning experience in addition to the Sunday Judaic Studies program, the school will provide a tutor to work with your student at your home or at the Temple for his or her Hebrew learning. Families can also coordinate to enable a small group tutoring experience, with up to four children working with one tutor. This can be arranged at the time and location that is most convenient for the family.
Students who need to make up a class, or want extra Hebrew practice can participate in both the Sunday and Wednesday Hebrew program at no additional charge.
